State the assumptions
Ask what the quote assumes about substrate, frame, wiring, plumbing and adjacent finishes. Existing photographs help, but they do not prove concealed conditions. An inspection allowance may be more useful than a guaranteed price based on unknowns.
For older materials, arrange appropriate hazardous-material assessment before disturbance. Do not treat demolition dust or damaged insulation as ordinary waste without review.
Agree the pause
Require the provider to stop and document unexpected conditions before extra work. Identify who authorizes changes and how the cost and schedule effects are communicated. Keep evidence of the finding and the agreed correction.
Avoid covering a known water or structural problem merely to keep the replacement on schedule. The responsible specialist should define the necessary investigation.
Define the final finish
Specify trim, patching, painting, seals and cleanup. A new component can operate correctly while the surrounding room still needs another trade; make that boundary clear at quotation.
Make the plan practical.
Use the project planner to organize your own details, then choose the scopes that fit. HAUSE reviews enquiries; availability, qualifications, fees and terms are confirmed individually.
Use the plannerAuthoritative starting points
For older materials, read Health Canada’s asbestos guidance. For connected equipment, use the actual manufacturer’s installation and care manuals and confirm requirements with the responsible local authority and qualified provider.
